CPPA Scholarship Fund

In 1995, a trust fund was established by Chicago native William Mutter in honor of his policeman father killed in the line of duty. Thanks to this trust, CPPA has awarded over $150,000 dollars in scholarship aid to over 145 of our members and their children. The criteria are 75% academic and 25% community service. Award amounts range from $250 to $1,250 and recipients can reapply each year as long as they’re pursuing a degree. CPPA’s academic scholarship program is one our most appreciated benefits. We love helping all of these students pursue higher education and in-turn, impacting law enforcement families across the state.

Applicant Status

Each year member officers, as well as their children, can apply to receive financial assistance for continuing their pursuit of college and university degrees through our scholarship program. Last year, CPPA awarded $11,000 in scholarship money. We encourage our members to apply for these assistance programs through our formal application process which opens each September 1st and ends December 31st.

All applicants must have a biological, legal adoptive or step parent who is a member in good standing of the CPPA, or be a member in good standing of the CPPA. (Except for applicants who are applying for Killed in the Line of Duty). In addition, applicant must be a graduating High School senior or a current student in higher education.

We wish all of our scholarship recipients success in their academic endeavors

and as well as their careers!
