Representation at the Colorado general assembly is imperative for many institutions and organizations, and law enforcement is no exception.  The Colorado Police Protective Association believes that lobbying at the state level is the most important and effective way to influence legislation that directly affects law enforcement.

This is why the CPPA utilizes Lombard and Clayton, Inc. a full-service governmental relations firm that monitors and influences state legislation.  Tony Lombard and Bill Clayton are both retired cops and understand the needs of Colorado Peace Officers.  They regularly attend CPPA board meetings and keep CPPA informed about what is going on at the State Capitol.  To learn more about our lobbyists, click on the Lombard & Clayton, Inc. logo below.

There are on average 600-700 bills introduced a year and our lobbyists, at the direction of the Board of Directors, are monitoring these bills to see how they might impact Law Enforcement.

Over the years, CPPA has supported certain bills good for Colorado law enforcement and opposed several that weren't.  Some recent bills the CPPA has supported are

PTSD HB16-1399, HR711 and HR4760, the Blue Lives Matter Act.

Our capacity to ensure that the voice of all Colorado law enforcement is heard is very important to us and we are working diligently to uphold that capacity.
