With PLEA, enrollees in Plan 1 (Admin., Criminal, Civil) receive coverage for just $45 per quarter. Plan 2 enrollees (Criminal, Civil) will pay $24 per quarter.
Besides experienced attorneys listed on the back of a participant’s ID card, other attorneys are being added. With PLEA you can always call an attorney of your choice if you need legal representation, although there are caps if he/she isn’t on the approved list.

PLAN 1 $45 a quarter/$15 month) APPLICATION
Administrative (Duty related arising out of a specific incident) Legal representation will be provided for the defense of administrative action brought against the participant arising out of a specific incident involving Internal Affairs, Grand Juries and Court Actions.
Administrative (Non duty related arising out of a specific incident) Legal representation will be provided for the defense of administrative action brought against the participant involving Demotion, Transfer, Termination and Suspension. This coverage includes charges from your department such as “conduct unbecoming” and “spousal abuse.” This coverage has a limit of $5,000 per incident and a $10,000 lifetime aggregate limit.

PLAN 2 ($24 a quarter/$8 month) APPLICATION (Representation in cases arising from an act or omission within scope of employment)
Civil Full representation by an experienced attorney from the outset of the investigation through trial even if your employer defends and indemnifies. The Legal Defense Fund protects you directly. This benefit is available for all levels of investigations: Local, State and Federal.
Criminal Full representation by an experienced attorney from the outset of the investigation through trial. This benefit is available for all levels of investigations: Local, State and Federal.
Customary and Usual Services Investigators (limited to $1,000 per case), Expert Witnesses (limited to $3,500 per case), Polygraphers, Court Reporters, and Court Costs.

How to Enroll To enroll in CPPA's LDF is simple. Become (and remain) a CPPA member by downloading/filling out/returning the Membership application under "Join Now." Then do the same with the LDF application "Legal Defense." (Policies become effective the 1st day of the month after CPPA receives your completed application. If you apply toward the end of the month, fax your LDF form to (719) 884-1257 to make the deadline, then mail the original copy to CPPA at: 1485 Kelly Johnson Blvd., Ste. 230, Colorado Springs, CO 80920; it's required for documentation).
