Provided through the Professional Law
Enforcement Association
With PLEA, enrollees in Plan 1 (Admin., Criminal, Civil) receive coverage comparable to the previous provider for just $45 per quarter instead of $69, an annual savings of $96. Plan 2 enrollees (Criminal, Civil) will pay $6 more per quarter—$24 instead of $18—still a bargain since the $18 remained intact over three years. Already a number of Plan 2 participants have upgraded to Plan 1 thanks to its affordability. PLEA offers better coverage for police chiefs, sheriffs, marshals and other chief administration officers. Under the previous plan they were entitled to representation only when he or she was acting as a peace officer or a public safety employee rather than as an administrator or department head. With PLEA, department heads are entitled to full benefits in relation to civil, criminal or administrative disciplinary actions. Besides experienced attorneys listed on the back of a participant’s ID card, other attorneys are being added. With PLEA you can always call an attorney of your choice if you need legal representation, although there are caps if he/she isn’t on the approved list.
