Why Become a CPPA Member?

CPPA is a common voice and with a common purpose, to protect the rights and benefits of individuals, associations and agencies throughout the state of Colorado. You will be joining an association of over 2.300 other Peace officers who the CPPA advocates for in state legislation working toward the protection and rights of Peace officers. You will have access to excellent benefits, including insurance coverage, death benefits, scholarship opportunities, training, continuing eduction, and access to our Body Armor program to keep you at your best!

Who Can Join?

  • Those who meet the standards defined by Colorado Revised Statues, and be certified by the Peace Officers Standards and Training Board (P.O.S.T)

 

  • A Public safety employee which includes but is not limited to dispatchers, administrative employees of police and sheriff’s departments, line staff at Colorado Dept. of Corrections facilities and/or who do not meet the requirements of active and/or retired membership

 

  • Previously active member in good standing who have retired after serving the required length of service and who is recognized by their department as having retired.

What Are the Costs?

 

Active Member - $60.00 Annual Membership

A person employed full or part time (paid) as a certified Peace Officer by the Colorado P.O.S.T. (Peace Officer Standards & Training) and at a minimum has the authority to enforce all laws of the State of Colorado while acting within the scope of his or her authority and in the performance of his or her duties. (Eligible for Plan 1 or 2 of the Legal Defense)  Questions please contact CPPA.

 

Reserve Member - $60.00 Annual Membership

Meets the standards defined by Colorado Revised Statues 16-2.5-110 as a RESERVE Peace Officer - A person authorized by a city, city & county, town, county, or state institution of higher education within this this state to act as a reserve police officer, reserve deputy sheriff, reserve town marshal for certain specific and limited periods of time while the person is authorized to be on duty and acting at the express direction or under the direct supervision of a fully POST certified peace officer. A reserve officer is a peace officer while engaged in the performance of his or her duties whose authority shall be limited to the authority granted by his or her authorizing agency. A reserve shall serve without compensation except during a declared emergency or a time of special need. (Eligible for Plan 4 of the Legal Defense).  Questions please contact CPPA.

 

Associate Member - $60.00 Annual Membership Cost

Public safety employees who do not meet the requirements of active or retired membership. (other restrictions apply please call CPPA with any questions)

 

Membership does not include Legal Defense.  Legal Defense is a separate enrollment process as well as a separate cost.  You must be a member to enroll in the Legal Defense Coverage. To view Legal Defense cost select the Legal Defense Tab above.
